What Can I Expect During Labiaplasty?

Dr. Kathy Huang's Bethesda labiaplasty is performed under local anesthesia in the privacy of our state-of-the-art office just outside Washington, D.C., allowing you to rest comfortably during the procedure. She will carefully reshape the labia, removing excess skin and correcting any abnormalities. Your incisions will be carefully placed in order to avoid scarring on the labia rim. Once the unwanted tissue is removed, your incisions will be closed with delicate sutures which will dissolve on their own as your body heals.

What is the Recovery from Labiaplasty Like?

You can expect mild swelling, bruising, and discomfort at the site of your incision, which can be easily managed with pain medication. Applying a cold compress may help to alleviate any swelling or discomfort in the first 48 hours. The majority of this swelling should subside within the initial week following your procedure.

Plan to wear loose-fitting clothing in the first few weeks following your surgery in order to aid in your comfort and allow your body to heal. It is important that you avoid sexual intercourse for at least four weeks following your surgery. Once this time has passed, you may engage in sexual activity as long as it feels comfortable for you.
