Tired of Having a Flat Butt?
The Brazilian butt lift, also known as the BBL, is increasingly becoming one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. There are quite a lot of patients who are dissatisfied with the size and shape of their buttocks or have developed sagging due to age. A Brazilian butt lift can help them achieve their desired rear-end shape and contours.
A typical Brazilian butt lift is an autologous fat-transfer process that augments the buttocks to a particular size and shape according to the patient’s wishes. Autologous means that the fat that is used for reshaping comes from the patient’s own body. The fat is usually taken from sources such as the stomach, hips, and thighs.
During the procedure, the donor fat is extracted, appropriately processed, and then evenly injected directly into the butt cheeks for augmentation.
Differences Between Buttocks Augmentation with Implants and a Brazilian Butt Lift
Traditional butt augmentation involves placement of silicone implants to make the buttocks firmer and more contoured. Brazilian butt lifts instead use the fat from the patient’s own body.
Because the fat used comes from the patient’s body, the procedure is completely safe from any kind of rejection issues or misalignments. The Brazilian butt lift is also free from the risk of many potential post-operative conditions.
Recovery Time for the Brazilian Butt Lift
The complete recovery time for the BBL procedure is three weeks. During this time, it is important to not put any pressure on the buttocks. A special pillow is usually provided for sitting on for these three weeks.
After the first 48 hours of the operation, the patient can bathe. They must wear a special compression garment for two to three weeks of recovery. There is little to no post-operative pain, and the patient may be able to take painkillers as prescribed.
The results of a Brazilian butt lift are permanent as long as the fat is properly processed and carefully injected. Transferred fat cells that connect with the blood supply can thrive in their new location.
Candidacy for the BBL Procedure
While Brazilian butt lifts are suitable for most patients, there are certain basic criteria for candidacy. The patient needs to be in a healthy and fit condition prior to the operation. This ensures proper recovery from anesthesia.
There is no smoking allowed in the weeks prior to the surgery, and the same goes for drinking alcohol. These activities can slow down the healing of tissues. The patient must also maintain a proper diet, as it aids in recovery.
The patient needs to have clinically realistic expectations from the process. They must be aware that the new size and shape of their buttocks must be in proper proportion with the rest of their body.
